INSPIRATION : ‘KAFFEEFORM’
With the rise in consumption of coffee, German designer Julian Lechner has found a solution to the large volumes of waste coffee grounds.
'Kaffeeform' is a combination of coffee grounds, natural glues and wood particles. By injecting the liquid it into moulds, Lechner has created usable objects such as coffee cups and is durable and hardwearing enough to withstand going through the dishwasher.
"The amount of daily coffee consumption worldwide is growing, thus the potential of reusing its waste for further uses is enormous," said Lechner.
"Kaffeeform is a sustainable material that aims to take advantage of these readily available waste materials to become an alternative to petrochemical-based structural plastics."
